On Monday, M had her one year doctor's appointment. She is little for her age: she weighs 19 lbs, 4 oz and is 29.25 inches tall. The doctor is not worried at all by these low numbers, as M is a fit and active child. Verbal too; her vocabulary grows by the day. She now frequently says such delightful things as "All done!" and "Hi hi". Add to that the following:
- Dog (and she will bark if you ask what a dog says)
- Baby
- Mama and DaDa
- That (when she points at things, asking for clarification)
- Read, read, read (as in "the Daddies on the bus go "read, read, read")
- Car
- Clark (as in the newest addition to the Schmieder family (congrats Chris and Carlos!))
- Eye, nose, toes and belly button (though belly button is more like "Beeee")
- Shoe and sock
- Wa and ba for "water" and "bottle"
- Yoyo for "yogurt" (but we call it yoyo because the brand is Yo Baby Yogurt, so we sing "Yo baby, yo baby, yo baby yo!" every time we eat yogurt)
There is more, but this is all I can think of now. More importantly, we think she understands most of all that we say. We tell her to get something, she does. Put something away, she obeys. Come, go, stop, hugs, kisses, and on and on--she gets it. We love watching her learn.
Her favorite things are dogs, babies, books and music. She also likes exploring, and her love for new things means she likes shopping with Mommy and seeing all of the new, neat stuff on display. Grocery shopping is on the agenda for tomorrow, as is taking photos so you have a pretty picture of my baby to look at!
