I See London, I See France

Yes, those are underpants on M's head.

She likes to go into all of the dresser drawers and empty out the clothes, and then try them on.

Today, the choice was not one of Mommy's pretty shirts (the usual favorite), it was these.

Don't worry--they are clean!

Also From Yesterday...

We had dinner last night with Andy, Danielle, and their full-house of friends and family. Andy pulled out his guitar for M, and let her hold the pick (which she did) and strum some chords (which she did, to our delight!)

M is in music class on Wednesdays, a parent-tot class that has singing and allows children to play with instruments. I have not gone, as Daddy took her last week and we missed class when we were in Chicago. According to Daddy, M loves the guitar when it comes out in class. I am so happy I was able to see her enjoy this last night--she really was interested and intent on discerning how Andy made music from the guitar.

Day with Danielle

M spent Monday with Danielle, who snapped these too-cute photos with her phone:

Mother's Little Helper

M is such a big help loading and unloading the dishwasher.

Putting her toys in, and taking them out.

I love the help!

I did not take out the camera today, but wanted to post a photo nonetheless. We have been talking about how M is almost 1 (gasp!) and that she was this tiny just one year ago. Sweet baby then, sweet baby now.

Go Green, Go White!

We watched the MSU v. Notre Dame game today, and it was a tough loss for State. But M looked cute in her Spartan wear:

Besties

M has a new best friend. She shares her snacks with him, he shares his toys. They lounge on the dog bed together, and follow each other around the house. And M's favorite, they play catch. Right now, both Sparty and M are sleeping, exhausted from all of this fun.

Bath Time for Baby

Daddy gives M baths after dinner. We do not fill up the tub, just spray her down to get her clean and keep her warm. Why? Because sometimes babies pee the tub. Because our baby likes to stand in the tub and the empty tub is less slippery. Because she hates getting her face wet and this works really well. See for your self--she loves it.

Day Hike

We drove into Rocky Mountain National Park today for a day hike of the Twin Sisters Peak. It was a beautiful drive, and I wish I had photos of the interesting geological formations that marked the twisted mountain pass that led us to the trail-head. But I don't. I do have photos of M though, and those are always great. Here she is eating corn at dinner:

Back to the hike: it was a moderately difficult, with 2,400 feet in elevation gain and 3.7 miles one way.

The hike took us above the treeline at about 3 miles in--at that point at about 11,000 feet.

At the top, we had a great view of Long's Peak, a popular 14'er that we just cannot climb with the baby. Still has snow!

Here is one of me, near the top. The top-top was too dangerous for Mommy, Daddy and baby M.

Someone offered to take our family photo, but he shot a movie instead:

M was a trooper, and feel asleep on the way down the mountain.

We hope you had a wonderful Labor Day too!

Baby Faces, Again. And Again. And Again...

M loves this book that Grandpa Schmieder bought for her during his last visit to Denver. It is called "Baby Faces," and is exactly that--a book with pictures of babies making different expressions. Happy baby. Sad baby. Laughing baby. Crying baby. You get the idea.

M wants us to read it to her over and over and over. It is cute, because she laughs when we get to the picture of the laughing baby, and blows kisses when we get to the photo of the kissing baby. But, we read it 10 times a day, every day, and that gets boring for Mommy. Here is what M does when she wants you to read it again:

Take it Mommy! Read to me again!
