Good Stuff

I guess all of the good "toys" are hidden in drawers and cupboards. This morning, M played for quite awhile in the bottle drawer--a drawer of all the spare bottle and sippy cup parts, among other baby things. When you are watching, don't worry when you see her put a nasal aspirator in her mouth. It has never been used :)

Pearly Whites

M has six teeth now, so it is time to brush up!

And she loves it.

Playing Ball

M had a blast today tossing her ball around the house. She had some really good throws before I turned on the camera. Rome always says I gave birth to an athlete, and I think it is true!

New Toys

We hit the sidewalk sales in Cherry Creek this weekend to buy M some new toys.

She is having fun playing, which is great because it is still hot hot hot in Denver and we will be spending a bit of time inside this week.

Look at Me!

We went hiking today and then out for burgers. M was hamming it up, showing everyone that she is "so big!"

Trouble with a Capital "T"

M likes to open cupboards and explore. Yesterday, I left the door open in her bathroom and she decided to check things out. I thought, what's the harm? There is almost nothing in those cupboards. So I grabbed my phone to snap some photos and watch her go.

And then she ate toilet paper.

So we took a break to clean that out of her mouth and change her clothes. As soon as we were done she made a break for the bathroom cupboards.

So proud of herself. *Sigh* Time for more child locks!

Walker

M has been practicing her walk with the use of this little walker. It is hilarious because the wheels move faster than she does. I wanted to catch it on camera, but what I got is far from the silly steps we have been watching her take. I will try hard to get a better video in the coming days.

And a note--the background music is NPR, some story about a composer.

Back in Denver

We had a busy day--an early morning flight to Denver, an afternoon nap for a sick baby, and M's 9 mo doctor's appointment. She is is 29 inches long and just over 17 lbs. The doctor said that she will be long and lean. See for your self with these in the buff bath-time photos, taken two days ago.

The doctor also said that she just has a virus, so we need to let it run its course.

Stairs

M loves to climb stairs. We do not have any in our condo, so she has been getting her fill this past week.

At U-Stick cottage:

At Grandma and Grandpa Schmieder's house:

All of this climbing and the low-grade fever she is still running wore her out. She took many small naps today.

We are headed back to Denver in the morning, and though we had lots of fun on our Michigan adventure, we cannot wait to see Daddy.

An Apple a Day...

I wish it were that easy. But our little M is running a fever today.

Hopefully it is nothing, and luckily we are not travelling today as planned. We took a bump and are leaving Tuesday morning, so we will get home just after Daddy (Romeo arrives to Denver from Boston around midnight/1:00am Tuesday morning).

Last Day at the Beach

Today was our last day at the beach. It was a great week, with lots of swimming in the lake and pool.

And with lots of QT with family. We are headed back to Denver tomorrow, and I expect that M will be bored at home where there are 30 less people to play with.

More Family Fun

Sweet baby Patrick Jude came to Holland to meet his cousin M on Tuesday. He is an amazing little guy, just six weeks old but getting so big! Patrick brought M some sand toys, which we had the opportunity to play with later in the day.

M was interested in Patrick, and at one point stroked his hair. But being an infant, he was hungry then sleepy on a continuous loop, so when he wailed for milk, she turned back to her toys.

We can't wait to see little PJ again soon, and thanks to Mommies Joc and Jenn for visiting us!

Lake Michigan

We arrived safe and sound in Michigan on Friday evening. Saturday morning, really, because our flight was delayed and did not arrive until 3:00am. But, we did get to Grand Rapids and on Saturday afternoon to the Lake. M has been reunited with her buddy Dean, and they are having so much fun playing together.

We are enjoying ourselves too, having already spent two days on the beach. The Lake is a comfortable 73 degrees, so we have also been swimming.

M loves the water, and is learning to love the sand. She has gotten sand in her mouth (not by eating it, but by putting dirty hands on her face) and does not appreciate the gritty taste. But that has not kept her from playing in the sand, burying and uncovering toys, and crawling about in the surf.

She is eating a lot of new foods too. Tonight was German night, and soft pretzels are now a new love.

So is Uncle Boonie, and the rest of the clan. M is quite the social butterfly!

On our Way to GR

We are having a great time people watching, and have lots of time to do it. Our flight jas been delayed an hour and a half.

Laughing

While M was eating dinner and I was trying to get her to laugh so she would open her mouth and Romeo could pop some food in. Success!

Pizza Pie

There is a great, kid-friendly restaurant in the neighborhood called Mici. We love going there because M can watch all of the other kids, and we can have a nice dinner without having to worry that our loud child is ruining someone else's meal--everyone is there with their loud, messy children, and no one bats an eye at your child's antics.

We headed to Mici tonight after Rome got home from work, and on this visit the waitstaff had a surprise for M, her own pizza makings. We have seen other kids with the dough, shaping their pizza pies, but M is so small that we never thought to ask for it for her. Well, we should have because she loved it (though here she makes it seem like serious business,  not play).

And what's not to love about pizza dough? It is a great play-thing, second only to the pizza pan, since that doubles as a noise maker when it hits the floor.

Our little chef!

The Wave

M has been waving hello at everyone these days, so I thought I would catch it on camera to share with you.

Happy 4th of July!

Happy Independence Day to all! It was 100 degrees in Denver today (no exaggeration) and so we laid low in the morning, playing inside and running a few errands. In the afternoon, we headed to Andy and Danielle's to swim and have dinner. M wore her "Let Freedom Ring" outfit from Grandma Hereau.

We had to change into swimsuits though so she could splash in the baby pool.

M also played in the grass (pulling it out of the ground), swung in the swing, ate a bunch of good food, and relaxed in the hammock.

It was a nice day, and we are gearing up for a nice week now that we are again a healthy household.
