Weather in Denver

Romeo had to work today, so Andy and I drove to Loveland Pass to take M for a hike. But there was snow, and the pass was closed. We did see skiers enjoying the fresh power, but also a road closed due to an avalanche. 

Meanwhile, back in Denver, the weather was cool but pleasant. When we returned after our scenic drive, we went out for waffles and then Rome played with M.  

Now we are starting the evening routine--dinner, bath and bed for M.

Meal Time

We had M's 6 month wellness visit to the pediatrician yesterday. Since we last took her to the doctor at 4 months, expert recommendations on how and when to feed your baby changed. Now, parents are encouraged to feed their babies whatever is for dinner--no slowly introducing foods as we had been--just let her have what's on the table.

So, last night we had Mexican, and gave M refried beans and avocado. The beans were well-received, but the avocado made her dry-heave. 

Today, I went to Whole Foods and bought Puffs, a baby food that looks like cereal but is made from fruits and veggies, and  instantly melts in your mouth so there is no need to chew. M likes the sweet potato Puffs, the only kind we have tried so far. That is positive, and we are hoping that this change to more flavorful, diversified foods also changes her appetite for solids. 

More Help Around the House

M has been very helpful (see yesterday's post, the shelves). But she has also been helping her Daddy cook, and me do the laundry. 

Now, I do have to refold everything, but it is worth it. 

Big Helper

We got new bookshelves for our apartment, and today M was helping Daddy put them together.

But she got bored, and took off exploring. Here she is, headed into her bathroom. You can hear Rome in the background with the drill trying to get her attention to come back. 

It didn't work :)

Playing in the Park

We went to the neighborhood park today, and M played in the grass, pulling it up, raking through the dirt, grabbing at dead leaves and dandelions. With rain expected for tomorrow, I am glad we were able to get outside and enjoy the sunshine.

Happy Easter!

We had a great Easter holiday in Denver. We went to mass this morning with Andy and Danielle, and then back to our place for breakfast. Here she is after breakfast, in her pretty little dress.

We had Easter dinner with Andy and Danielle too, and twenty of their closest friends. We had a great time, and hope your Easter was as nice as ours :)

Bjorn Love

M loves being carried around in the Baby Bjorn that Auntie Felicia gave us. It was a little dirty from all of the wear, so I washed it this morning and placed it on the drying rack to air-dry. And M wanted it. In this video, you will see her shaking the drying rack, and looking up at the Bjorn wondering why it will not fall down. :)

Tooth!

We can see M's first tooth, on the bottom front. I tried to snap a photo, but I think the tooth is too small (and new) to see. I will try to get a better photo so we can share this milestone with everyone.

Maybe It's Not that Good...

So we thought M liked the switch to solids, but each feeding is more difficult than the last. Today was bananas, and she did not like it! This video is oatmeal (or rice cereal, not sure) but you can see she does not like it.

Scooting Along



M is loving the hardwood floors at the new place (our area rugs are still at the cleaners). She can stick her little hands to the floor and pull herself along, as you will see in this video.

Weekly Recap

Another recap, as this has been a big week! We arrived at our new home in Denver on Monday, and M was soon back to her favorite games, like hide and seek:

And of course, we starting feed M solids three times a day. So far, we have only had rice cereal, oatmeal and sweet potatoes, but she seems to be enjoying it. 

Because M is now eating solid food, by the end of the day she has food in her hair, behind her ears (in her nose, after Daddy feeds her) we are giving her daily baths: 

We will spend this upcoming week exploring more of our new city, and getting M. acclimated to her new home and schedule. Stay tuned!

Swing!

We took M to Washington Park today, and the best part about it was the swings.

If M could talk, however, I think she would have said that the best thing about Wash Park were the other little kids--here she is watching a little boy run around. You can see that she wants to be doing that too!

Future Book Worm?

M really just likes to chew on books and is not yet at the age where she wants to sit and be read to, or sit and read (obviously). But you would not know that from looking at these photos... 

Also, a "thanks!" to Aunts Joc and Jenn for the super cute new outfits (pictured here). We are sorry that we will be missing their baby shower tomorrow. Only a six more weeks or so until she (or he!) is born and M will have a new little cousin.

We fed M her first food today, yummy rice cereal. It was messy, but a success!

Last Day in GA

We spent our last full day here in Georgia visiting a winery, where we enjoyed lunch outdoors on the balcony of the tasting room.

M had a bottle for her lunch, and insisted on feeding herself. 

She is such a big girl--next week we start solid food, and she will be crawling soon. Not to mention the fact that I think she is waving at people, and sometimes it sounds like she is saying "hi." 

Tomorrow I am taking my happy baby on an early morning flight back to Chicago, to get into the car and drive to Grand Rapids. It will be a long day of travel, and I hope she keeps a smile on her face throughout.
